Q: How are stakeholders in the Texas power sector thinking about climate change? Do they view climate change as a threat, an opportunity, or both?

Extreme weather increasingly affects business operations and the bottom line. This includes both acute shocks with highly visible impacts and chronic stresses that slowly chip away at operational efficiency over time. Investors, regulators, insurance companies, and rating agencies recognize the risks associated with climate change impacts, calling for greater transparency on these impacts and pushing for decarbonization of the energy system.

In a recently published position paper, HARC analyzes climate risks in the Texas power sector and calls on stakeholders to take action.

Under the umbrella of Pythias Analytics, HARC aims to support and strengthen stakeholder capabilities to monitor infrastructure exposure to extreme weather. HARC teamed up with ClimeCo and Lehigh University and rolled out a survey in 2021 to understand climate risk perceptions and management approaches in the power sector.

In this webinar, the team will dive into the highlights of the survey findings and discuss what it means for climate resilience in the power sector.
