HARC Webinar Series
Join HARC research scientists, Dr. Ryan Bare and Dr. Erin Kinney, on September 21 at 11 a.m. CST, for HARC’s newest webinar series on Galveston Bay. This month’s conversation will begin with a primer on the overall health of the state’s largest estuary and then provide a deeper dive into the data behind the science.
Grab your lunch and Zoom into this month’s conversation to learn how the health of Galveston Bay connects communities throughout our region.
Speakers
Ryan Bare, PhD, Research Scientist, Watershed Ecology
Erin Kinney, PhD, Research Scientist, Coastal Ecology
The program is free to attend, but pre-registration is required by Monday, September 19. The event will be hosted via Zoom. After the registration deadline, you will receive an email that contains a link for the virtual meeting.
How does the overall health of Galveston Bay impact communities in our region? How can residents help protect this valuable natural resource?
The larger Galveston Bay watershed begins at the Trinity River’s headwaters and extends south from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to Galveston Bay. Half of all Texas residents live in the Galveston Bay watershed. Activities that occur in the upper watershed can impact downstream waterways and the Bay.
Science-based analyses for resource planning are vital to conserve and manage Galveston Bay. Learn how HARC’s team of water experts provides resources on waterway health through a holistic watershed approach.
Key learning objectives
- Discuss findings of the most recent Galveston Bay Report Card, understand the process and metrics, and learn how you can help to improve the bay’s overall health.
- Learn how science can inform actions to help sustainably manage Galveston Bay.
- Explore how the region’s waterways are connected to the Bay, and how our actions influence the quality of water that flows to the Bay.
